On June 3, 2015, a propane explosion in the small village of Aguas Claras in central Panama left hundreds injured and homeless. Located on the north shore of Lake Bayano, the indigenous community is only accessible by canoe, making relief efforts logistically challenging. In support of the Panamanian government and Panamanian Public Forces, DynCorp International team members provided humanitarian support, moving more than 32,200 pounds of emergency supplies into the village by air.
DI team members provided coordination for three helicopters and a DC-3 aircraft to transport the supplies and also provide assistance with refuel operations so aircraft could spend more time on station to benefit the disaster area’s relief efforts.
“Being able to provide this kind of support, that directly impacts a community so close to where we work, is something our team members take great pride in,” said Joe Dunaway, DynCorp International vice president of Air Operations.
