(JUL/AUG 2009) DI’s team in Erbil connected the resources to save a young life. An Iraqi barber’s four-year-old daughter, born with a heart defect, needed surgery that was beyond the family’s economic means. Our team contacted the MedChild Project, a State Department humanitarian program that paid for the operation, and Nazdar for Children, a non-governmental agency that provided the surgeon and medical care. The little girl had the operation and is doing well. The DI team has also raised $11,000 of their own money to pay for surgery to restore an Iraqi boy’s hearing. The team members in Erbil are outstanding professionals.
One of the appreciation notes they received included this message:
“I was extremely impressed with the patience and professionalism of the entire DynCorp team, both in the field and on the compound in logistical and headquarters operations. In addition to doing what was expected, your team often managed to excel and surprise me with service that was unexpected, and probably beyond what even you expect of them. I am grateful for their care and concern. Please extend my thanks to the rest of the team.”
