In Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, DI plays an important role today in providing critical infrastructure protection, from threat assessment and perimeter security to convoy planning and operations. At locations around the world, DI staff manage asset tracking as well as base security, guard services and close protection.
For more than 12 years, we supported the U.S. Army in the gulf region with personnel and vehicle searches, static and roving security and contract working dogs for explosives detection. We used DBIDS, the Defense Biometric Identification System, to issue badges and IDs, and we operated a joint law enforcement security desk using the DoD's criminal database - COPS - for reporting. We also provided training for a multinational team of more than 300 security guards.
