DynCorp International Supports PeacePlayers International

peaceplayers dyncorp internationalDynCorp International is a proud sponsor of PeacePlayers International’s (PPI) annual fundraiser event, taking place March 21, 2013 in Washington, D.C. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit PPI’s local and international programs that aim to “unite, educate and inspire young people in divided communities through basketball.”

About PeacePlayers International

PeacePlayers International was founded in 2001 on the premise that “children who play together can learn to live together.” In its nearly eleven years of operations, PPI has reached more than 55,000 participants. Through a groundbreaking peacebuilding-and-leadership development curriculum, PPI uses basketball to bring children together and teach them proven tactics for improving their communities. PPI currently operates year-round programs in South Africa, Northern Ireland, Israel and the West Bank, and Cyprus.

  • South Africa – The PPI program in South Africa has augmented their traditional mission of “bridging divides” with an added focus on addressing the region’s staggering HIV/AIDS epidemic and providing additional educational and professional opportunities to young people.
  • Northern Ireland – In Northern Ireland, PPI operates as an independently registered charity in the U.K. which uses sport, in particular basketball, to unite and educate the region’s Protestant and Catholic youth.
  • Israel and the West Bank – PPI works in Israel and the West Bank to build mutual respect and understanding among the region’s Jewish and Arab youth through basketball, with a special emphasis on serving girls and the underprivileged.
  • Cyprus – In Cyprus, PPI uses basketball to help Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot boys and girls play together, learn together and build positive relationships that overcome generations of mistrust and formidable physical barriers to interaction.
