DynCorp International team members will be participating in the American Heart Association’s 2013 Greater Washington Heart Walk on Saturday, November 9, 2013, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. DI team members in the D.C. area will participate on site, while satellite teams from DI programs around the world will participate virtually.
The annual Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premiere event for raising funds to fight against the number one and number three causes of death in the U.S. – heart disease and stroke. Designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, the Heart Walk creates an environment that’s fun and rewarding for the entire family.
More than a million people in more than 300 cities across the U.S. are participating in local walks to support the American Heart Association’s projects such as:
- Putting up-to-the-minute research into doctors’ hands so they can better prevent and treat heart disease among patients.
- Groundbreaking pediatric heart and stroke research.
- Raising awareness of heart disease by providing information on how to eat better, recognize the warning signs of a heart attack and how to talk to a doctor about critical health choices – information that can save lives.
The American Heart Association’s goal is to improve the heart health of Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by 2020.
