(JUL/AUG 2009) Our Afghan colleagues make an essential contribution to every program we manage in Afghanistan. At the second annual Family Appreciation Day, hosted by the CIVPOL team, some 500 employees and their families attended, including support staff from logistics, HR, procurement, camp maintenance, finance, etc. It’s an opportunity for families to see where their loved ones work and for colleagues to meet family members, and for everyone to have a terrific day filled with good food, fun, and games for the children.
Jill Bennett said, “For many of us who spend most of our time in a secured compound, it was one of the most memorable and rewarding events during our time in mission.”
In Afghanistan, DI provides services such as civilian police training, aircraft maintenance and pilot training, de-mining, construction, and logistics support. The first presidential elections conducted by Afghans in the history of their country took place August 20, 2009.
