DynCorp International Awarded United States Forest Service Contract for Sherpa Maintenance

McLean, VA – (August 19, 2019) – On August 1, the United States Department of Agriculture awarded DynCorp International (DI) a contract to maintain Sherpa aircraft for the United States Forest Service. This contract has a seven-month base period with four option years and a five-month option period. Performance will begin September 3. The total contract is valued at $6.9 million if all options are exercised.

DI will provide commercial aircraft maintenance services for ten aircraft that are FAA-certificated as Short Brother SD3-60s and are operated in support of the Forest Service Smokejumper program. The primary use of these aircraft will be to deliver smokejumpers and cargo to wildland fires and provide other multi-mission capabilities including transporting crews, teams, and cargo. Work will be done predominantly out of Redmond, Oregon.

“We are thrilled with the U.S. Forest Service’s selection of DynCorp International to provide services to their fleet of Sherpa aircraft,” said Joe Ford, president of DynAviation. “Supporting the USFS aviation program helps to ensure the safety and management of one of America’s most important natural resources.”
