MCLEAN, Va. – (July 3, 2017) – DynCorp International announced today that it has been designated a 2017-18 STEM JobsSM Approved Employer by STEM Jobs, the leader in connecting young professionals with education and career opportunities, and creator of STEM JobsSM media and resources for students interested in science, technology, engineering and math. The 2017-18 STEM JobsSM Approved Employers survey rates companies on their ability and responsiveness to hiring and developing STEM-skilled job candidates, creating STEM career paths, and connecting with higher education institutions that offer STEM programs.
Companies participating in the survey were scored on publicly available data and responses to proprietary questions around four key indicators that demonstrate the extent to which a company works to: 1) Provide opportunities for employees to explore STEM careers; 2) Promote partnerships with colleges that foster STEM literacy and that connect classrooms to careers; 3) Actively engage in efforts promoting the importance of pursuing STEM literacy and how that connects to the positions for which they hire; and 4) Promote STEM programs and career paths that actively attract and engage underrepresented student populations. The assessment and rights to the STEM Jobs ApprovedSM Employers designation are available to these qualifying companies for free. DynCorp International will be featured in an upcoming issue of STEM JobsSM magazine and online as part of the 2017-18 list of STEM JobsSM Approved Employers.
“Our STEM JobsSM awards help employers, colleges, and K12 schools better understand the kinds of efforts that are critical to promoting highly effective, efficient STEM programs, plus how well their programs are helping students understand the value of STEM and the immense career opportunities that exist,” said Ellen Egley, Directory of Education for STEM Jobs. “Students can’t pursue jobs they don’t know about, so we’re dedicated to highlighting the amazing STEM careers available in the workplace of tomorrow, as well as companies like DynCorp International that are leading the way in providing long-term STEM careers.”
