GLS Moving Forward With $4.6 Billion Translation Contract

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (March 13, 2008) – The U.S.Army has authorized Global Linguist Solutions (GLS) a joint ventureof DynCorp International (NYSE:DCP) and McNeil Technologies, toresume performance on a contract for translation and interpretationservices.  The protest of the February 2008 award has beenwithdrawn. 

The five-year contract has a maximum value of $4.6 billion. The U.S. Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) awarded thecontract to GLS to provide management of translation andinterpretation services in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom(OIF.) 

DynCorp International owns a majority interest in the jointventure.

Under the contract, GLS will provide foreign-languageinterpretation and translation services to the U.S. Army and otherU.S. government agencies supporting OIF, including embedded Iraqiinterpreters who operate with U.S. forces. GLS will initiallyemploy up to 7,000 locally hired translators and up to 1,500 U. S.citizens with security clearances who are native speakers oflanguages spoken in Iraq.

GLS has added L-3 Services, Inc. as a sub-contractor for theperformance of the contract.   The addition of L-3Services, whose work will be carried out by its Linguist Operationsand Technical Support Division (LOTSD), will facilitate a seamlesstransition on the ground in Iraq. L-3 joins nine othersubcontractors, all of whom contribute specialized capabilities tothe GLS Integrated Team Management Approach.
